Respect In Sport (RiS)

Respect In Sport (RiS)

Respect in Sport was developed as a grass-roots online tool so community organizations can deliver on their commitment to creating a safer environment for all participants: players, coaches, referees, volunteers, and even parents. Founded in 2004 by partners Wayne McNeil and former NHL hockey player Sheldon Kennedy, Respect in Sport has been developed in consultation with the Canadian Red Cross to protect youth and inform leaders.

Respect in Sport was founded on the following beliefs:
  • Creating a safe and fun environment for all children taking part in any activity should be the first priority of all sport and community leaders
  • Activity leaders need formal training in the areas of bullying, abuse, harassment and neglect - to know what is appropriate and acceptable in any given situation
  • All children and youth should leave the activity with a positive self-image
  • Empowering training is the key to creating a values-based environment
  • Training must be simple, convenient, easy to access, and affordable
Respect in Sport is a required training program for anyone wanting to coach within the Osler Soccer Assocation. The training program takes about 2-4 hours to complete online, but it doesn't have to be completed all at one time. There is no cost for the training.

Respect in Sport is a required training program for all registered Coaches and Team Personnel of Provincial Sport Governing Bodies in Saskatchewan. This training is available at no cost, online at

Coaches & Team Personnel who are currently active and have not yet completed their RiS Training need to be aware that they are no longer eligible to be involved with any team until they complete their RiS.

Subject to fines and discipline, Member Organizations are responsible to suspend participation of coaches or team personnel until they complete RiS.

Please complete this training online and provide your certificate number to your home town association administration.

If you have already completed RiS and need to look up your certification number, please visit this site: https://sasksrc.respectgroupinc.com/lookup-certificate.jsp
